A police helicopter had to land on Durdham Down at the weekend to warn a kite flyer they were flying too high.
The kite was at such heights it had interfered with a small light aircraft from Bristol Airport.
The enthusiast was warned by the crew in the Filton police helicopter after his kite was 1,000ft above ground level.
The man was located and his details have been passed on to the Civil Aviation Authority.
The limit for kites is only 240ft and the high flyer was thought to have interfered with a small aircraft flying past the area at around 500ft.
Onlookers enjoying the sunshine saw the helicopter land at around 2.15pm.
While there the crew took the chance to show off the police helicopter and explain the problems that had been caused.
