A married police officer had sex with a female suspect in a custody suite, Cardiff Crown Court has heard.
Sgt Richard Evans, 46, of Pontypool, is also accused of giving her a lift home in a police van before kissing and groping her while on duty.
Mr Evans also allegedly sexually assaulted two other women being held in cells at his Gwent police station.
He denies misconduct in a public office and three charges of sexual assault during his 11 years with the force.
“If an police officer engages in sexual activity with a member of the public who is in his care then that constitutes misconduct,” John Philpotts, prosecuting, said.
The jury was told how in 2003, the woman he gave a lift home to in a police van, was later arrested while drunk and taken to Ystrad Mynach police station, near Caerphilly.
She asked for a drink of water, the court heard, but Mr Evans took her to a “sluice room”, a wash room where officers dispose of human bodily waste, and had sex with her up.
The woman told officers the sex was consensual, the jury heard.
Mr Evans is also accused of assaulting another woman while she was being held in custody.
He is also accused of making inappropriate comments to a third woman about her body piercings.
“It made me feel very uncomfortable, I didn’t expect that from an officer of the law,” she told the court.
“It made me feel uneasy and sleazy and not very good at all.”
